About MICSUN

WHO WE ARE

MICSUN stands for the Miami International Conference for the Simulation of the United Nations, and is a high school conference hosted by the University of Miami Model United Nations team. It is meant to serve high schools in Florida and beyond by providing students with an opportunity to showcase their knowledge and diplomatic skills. The first MICSUN was in 2011 when things were very different for our team. Back then, we were a much smaller, fledgling organization just getting its footing. Today, our team has grown tremendously and has become a perennial top-15 competitive delegation within the college MUN circuit. Years of steady leadership and hard work have made our team what it is today. Much like our team, MICSUN itself has grown remarkably each year.

While the COVID-19 pandemic put MICSUN on pause for the two years, our team made a comeback for MICSUN IX in April of 2022, and is honored to host MICSUN’s tenth iteration this February. This year, MICSUN will feature ten committees with three distinct debate formats: Crisis, Specialized, and General Assembly. These give students the opportunity to play to their strengths or develop new skills. This conference and the committees thereof with be held in the Shalala Student Center at the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus. Enjoy scenic views of Lake Osceola in one of our campuses newest buildings, while engaging and competing with other delegates. The Miami Model UN team is ready to bring back South Florida’s premier Model UN conference and provide students with their best MICSUN yet!
