VENEZUELA’S LIMA GROUP, 2017

Venezuela the land of hope in Latin America, or at least it was. It’s 2017 and after a series of economic mismanagement by the government, the country is in an economic, and political crisis threatening the entirety of the western hemisphere. To deal with the crisis in Venezuela, diplomats from multiple countries such as Colombia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Peru, have gone to the capital city of Lima to figure out how to deal with this crisis. The task of this group is to handle the ongoing crisis by dealing with the refugee crisis, the government’s hostility towards its neighbors, and the violation of human rights. Will you be successful to ensure that the crisis is handled or better yet bring back democracy in Venezuela? What would you do with the other external actors in this crisis like Russia, China, Cuba, Nicaragua, or the United States? Will the region’s internal problems overshadow a proper response to the crisis? Will Venezuela take its place once more as the land of hope in Latin America?
